Who am I?

       Hi, I'm Lauren! I am a graduate with honors from Charter Oak State College, with a BS in General Studies with a concentration in English and a focus on creative writing. I originally found my passion for tutoring in college when I was a peer tutor. I saw many people held back by their reading and writing levels, often struggling more with their confidence than anything else. I believe in the students I tutor and try to help alleviate that stress by showing them that they have the ability - they just need a map to walk them through the process.

       I've been a peer and volunteer tutor for a total of three years. I have always found it an extremely rewarding experience. I've helped students ranging from adults reading at an elementary reading level, to adult students attempting to get their GED. I have helped people with cognitive and psychiatric challenges, as well as autism. I'm interested in meeting students where they are and trying to understand how they learn best.

       In addition to having worked with a wide variety of differences, I am neurodivergent myself, and can appreciate the challenges of navigating school while being neurodivergent.
 

       In my spare time, I write, enjoy a variety of crafts ranging from jewelry (which I sell) to oil painting. I also enjoy video games, from indie games to popular ones like the Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Witcher series. I also enjoy spending time with my partner, two cats, and service dog.
